Executive Office of Health and Human Services holds a public hearing on proposed regulatory changes to hospital assessments, including boosting the total assessment by $50 million. The change could offer relief for the Health Safety Net Fund, which covers the cost of care for uninsured and underinsured Bay Staters and is expected to see massive deficits once healthcare provisions of the federal One Big Beautiful Bill Act take effect. The proposal would also update inpatient and outpatient assessment rates, plus update the base rate from 2019 to 2023.
