Diet-related diseases continue to be the leading cause of death in the U.S. Interventions that treat food as a form of treatment and provide comprehensive nutritional education have the potential to improve health outcomes and reduce substantial expenses associated with health care.
Food is Medicine integrates food-based programs and interventions at multiple levels of health care such as produce prescriptions, medically tailored groceries, and medically tailored meals.
Join BPC for a healthy meal food demonstration from Food and Friends, followed by a discussion on policies that address increasing nutrition education and access to Food is Medicine interventions for those with diet-related diseases.
