Register for AG Medicaid Fraud Division
The Medicaid Fraud Division within the Massachusetts Attorney General's Office functions as the federally certified Medicaid Fraud Control Unit for the Commonwealth, dedicated to protecting the integrity of MassHealth and defending vulnerable residents. Operating with multidisciplinary teams of prosecutors, forensic auditors, and investigators, the division conducts statewide civil and criminal investigations into healthcare providers suspected of defrauding the system through illegal practices such as false billing, upcoding, kickbacks, and cost-report falsification. Alongside recovering millions in misappropriated taxpayer funds under state and federal False Claims statutes, the unit fulfills a critical patient-protection mandate by investigating and prosecuting allegations of abuse, neglect, mistreatment, and financial exploitation of patients in nursing homes, long-term care facilities, and community-based healthcare settings.
