Register for Nursing Homes Understaffed
Grace Ferguson reports on nursing home care, housing, and transportation for The New Bedford Light. She graduated from Boston University and recently completed a fellowship reporting on police accountability for WBUR. She previously investigated housing issues in western Massachusetts for GBH News. Some of her reports involved a nursing home with more health citations than any other nursing home in Massachusetts in a year; Next Step nursing homes which were put in receivership for millions in unpaid rent and fees; and the Fall River Nursing Home which was labeled "the worst of the worst". This study session will focus on Grace's findings reported in her July 28, 2026 article, Half of all nursing homes in Massachusetts are understaffed.
