Jim Lomastro chairs the Veterans Services work group. His expertise includes rehabilitation, behavioral health, addictions, and senior care, while special interests include Small Houses (vs. large institutional living for veterans and others), decarceration, and social justice.
Jim has more than 40 years of experience as a senior administrator in healthcare, human services, behavioral health, and home and community-based services. He has served on numerous advisory boards and committees related to policy, regulatory and program development at local, state, and national level. For 20 years, he was a surveyor at the Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities throughout the U.S. and Canada.
Jim has a Ph.D. in Policy, Research and Administration from the Heller School at Brandeis University, with post doctorate work undertaken in Psychosomatic and Behavioral Medicine at Boston University’s School of Medicine. He has served on numerous advisory boards and committees related to policy, regulatory and program development at local, state and national levels. Recent efforts include work with the Massachusetts Executive Office of Health & Human Services on rest homes and food insecurity as well as in-person refugee and migrant support in McAllen Texas through Catholic Charities.
A lifelong Massachusetts resident, Jim lives in Conway. Jim is both a foster parent and a group home parent in small homes developed to replace large state institutions.
