6/10/22 DignityMA response to CMS Request for Information (RFI) to support National Minimum Staffing Standard.
Inadequate staffing is the primary driver of poor health outcomes in nursing homes, and CMS has promised to propose a minimum staffing standard within one year. The RFI follows the Biden Administration’s February 28, 2022 proposal of significant nursing home reforms. The 1st segment of the report discusses nursing home resident and staffing issues occurring in Massachusetts, and the Addendum includes recommendations developed by the following national advocacy organizations and supported by DignityMA: National Consumer Voice for Quality Long-Term Care, Long Term Care Community Coalition, Center for Medicare Advocacy, Justice in Aging, and California Advocates for Nursing Home Reform.
