Shaya French

Shaya French is a Senior Community Organizer at the Boston Center for Independent Living and chairs the Housing workgroup for Dignity Alliance Massachusetts. Shaya, along with R Feynman of the Disability Policy Consortium, have spearheaded an effort with the state’s independent living centers to provide 50 housing vouchers to people who are in nursing homes, enabling them to live in the community. In addition, Shaya and R have successfully advocated for hundreds of new housing vouchers for people with disabilities to be included in the state’s budget.

Shaya previously worked on reproductive justice at the Unitarian Universalist Association and prison abolition at Black and Pink. 

Shaya has a BA from Bard College and lives in Boston.
