U.S. Senator Elizabeth Warren (D-MA) was named the recipient of the Dignity Alliance Federal “Outstanding Federal Legislator Award.” The presentation was made on February 28th in Warren’s Boston Office in the JFK Federal Building at noon. Janice Rotenberg, Senator Warren’s State Director, accept the award on behalf of the senator who is in Washington presiding at a Senate Finance Committee subcommittee and was unable to be present.
“Senator Warren was chosen for her leadership in multiple efforts to hold bad actors accountable for putting profits over people and keeping them out of healthcare. She clearly understands the problems and threats posed to long-term care resident health and well-being by corporate interests and private equity owners and investors,” according to Paul Lanzikos, Dignity Alliance Coordinator. Lanzikos is a former Massachusetts Secretary of Elder Affairs.
Former State Senator Richard T. Moore, Dignity Alliance Legislative Chair, added, that “Senator Warren, along with Congressman Richard E. Neal (D-MA1) have been strong leaders on issues affecting the health and well-being of long-term care consumers. Dignity Alliance presented the House version of their award during a mid-January ceremony at Neal’s Springfield office.
Dignity Alliance Massachusetts is a statewide, non-profit, all-volunteer coalition advocating for older adults, people with disabilities, and their caregivers. The coalition was organized in the early stages of the COVID-19 Pandemic, and advocates through federal and state legislation, litigation, education, and information to policy makers on both Beacon Hill and Capitol Hill.
